Two Card Designs From One Talented Artist
Scunthorpe-based mouth painter, Jon Clayton, was featured in Lincolnshire Today to celebrate the remarkable achievement of having not one, but two of his Christmas designs selected for the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists 2022 Christmas collection.
The two images selected are titled ‘Christmas Tree Delivery’ and ‘The Nativity’ and were included in the article, which explained how apprentice mechanic Jon had a motorbike accident back in 1978, which broke his neck and rendered him paralysed in all four limbs.
After a number of attempts at mouth painting, suggested by Occupational Therapists, Jon gave up on the idea but a Christmas gift of ‘painting by numbers’ re-ignited an interest and led to him experimenting with drawing and painting by mouth again. He then read a book about the lives and art of the artists with the MFPA, which resulted in him submitting his own work to the Association for evaluation and subsequently an art scholarship. The rest is history as they say.
